SYNOPSIS
All his life, Justin managed to escape his own story. But his past catches up with him when he finds a box full of old family VHS tapes. A film that begins as an homage to his deceased father develops into an attempt to no longer be a stranger to his own mother.
“REWIND FORWARD is disarmingly honest … and incredibly brave” – Luzerner Zeitung
“A deeply personal and multifaceted story about one family’s struggle to confront a tragedy. This filmmaker does not shy away from his personal feelings of shame and vulnerability. The resulting story is a testament to film’s capacity to have a healing impact on its subjects and creators.” – Jury Statement, Kurzfilmtage Winterthur
“It’s no coincidence that one of the best shorts of the year is also one of the most personal.” – Jon Fusco, No Film School
